Beyond the Book: How Women Are Shaping the Future of Storytelling Across Media

At Hudson Publishing Company, we believe stories don’t just live on the page — they can inspire, empower, and transform across every medium. Our mission is simple but powerful: Connecting Stories, Changing Lives. With every project, we’re committed to empowering women and inspiring futures.

For centuries, storytelling has been the backbone of culture. Books, journals, and newspapers gave us a way to record ideas and pass them through generations. But the way we consume stories has changed — and it continues to evolve. Today, narratives flow across apps, games, digital platforms, podcasts, and communities. At Hudson Publishing Company (HPC), we see this shift as an opportunity. Women, in particular, are underrepresented in publishing leadership and even more so in emerging media. That’s why we’ve built a publishing house built by women, led by women and designed for a new era: one that supports women in telling their stories in every form possible.

Why Hudson Publishing Company Exists

Our founder, Jill Hudson, knows first-hand what it means to pursue a dream in the face of life’s challenges.

“When I went through my divorce, I knew I wanted to follow my dreams of helping women share their voices. Stories saved me, and I wanted to create a place where women could publish across any platform — not just books — and be heard by the world.” – Jill Hudson

During COVID, Jill brought one of her dreams to life: the launch of Santa Academy, an app that captured imaginations worldwide. With over 10,000 pre-orders and more than 20,000 social media followers during a soft launch, it felt like her creative vision was becoming reality overnight.

But at the same time, her core businesses required focus. With staff spread across the world, Jill shifted back to ensure stability during the uncertain times of the pandemic. Like many women, she put her dreams temporarily on hold for the sake of others. Yet that experience did not dim her vision, it made it stronger. Now, with Hudson Publishing Company, she is determined to build a platform that ensures women no longer need to choose between their dreams and their responsibilities.

HPC is here to become a world-leading voice for women who want to be published — those with powerful stories, unique creative ideas, and bold visions that deserve to be shared with the world.

Why a Multi-Media Approach Matters

Traditional publishing has long focused on the printed book. Books remain at the heart of what we do, but they are not the limit of what a story can be. Stories today travel further and reach more people when they expand into new formats.

When creating Santa Academy, Jill discovered the true potential of multi-media publishing. Alongside writing the book, which is soon to be published, she and her team launched:

  • An interactive app, bringing the magic of Santa Academy into children’s hands.
  • A kid-friendly news website, where young readers could track the progress of Christmas throughout December.
  • A growing online community, blending imagination, play, and learning.

This world-building approach showed that storytelling doesn’t end when the final page is turned. Instead, stories can become interactive, collaborative, and continuous. A book can spark a game, a game can inspire a podcast, and an app can grow into a global community.

HPC chose a multi-media model because no one else was doing it in quite the same way. We saw a gap — and we knew it was time to bring something new and different to the world.

Women at the Forefront of Storytelling

Time and again, women’s voices have proven to be some of the most powerful. Think of the impact of J.K. Rowling, Maya Angelou, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, or Elizabeth Gilbert and women now write the majority of books published in the United States.

At HPC, we want to extend that impact further — not just in print, but in every possible medium. Imagine:

  • A memoir that becomes a podcast series. This is super popular right now and something we should all be considering. One of our favorite versions of this is Mel Robbins.
  • A children’s book that evolves into a mobile game.
  • A novel that inspires an interactive app or digital world like Santa Academy.

This is where women’s creativity shines: not in one format, but in many. By giving women the resources to expand their stories across platforms, we’re helping them build movements, not just manuscripts.

Shaping the Future of Publishing

Hudson Publishing Company is designed to be more than a publisher. We are a creative partner. We provide:

  • Guidance for women who want to publish books.
  • Infrastructure to launch apps and games linked to their stories.
  • Marketing strategies to help build audiences across social media.
  • Support networks so women don’t have to navigate the journey alone.

We are building a system where every woman has the chance to take her story further than she imagined, to see her world come alive beyond the book.

The Vision Ahead

As technology evolves, so too does storytelling. We believe the next great wave of publishing will be multi-platform, and women should be at the center of it. Hudson Publishing Company is here to ensure they are.

Our mission is not just to publish stories but to create ecosystems where those stories can thrive no matter who the audience best digests content. We see a future where:

  • Women continue to lead as authors, creators, and innovators.
  • Stories become experiences that live across print, digital, and interactive platforms.
  • Every published work contributes to a global movement of women’s voices changing lives.

At HPC, this isn’t just business. It’s personal. It’s about creating the space Jill once wished she had: a home for creativity that embraces the power of women’s voices in all their forms.

Connecting Stories.  Changing Lives.  Empowering Women.  Inspiring Futures.
